INTENDED USE:	The quantitative determination of Thyroxine binding globulin (TBG) in human serum by a Microplate Chemiliuminescense Immunoassay (CLIA).
PRODUCT OVERVIEW:	TBG is the principal binding protein for T3 and T4 in circulation. Only free (T3/T4) hormones are available to the tissues, therefore the metabolic state of the patient will correlate more closely with the free than with the total concentration of the hormones. Serum TBG abnormalities distort the TOTAL:FREE relationship in many clinical conditions. Hence in routine analysis the clinical laboratories rely on direct measurements of TBG to evaluate patients with abnormal T4 and T3 levels.
