| PRODUCT OVERVIEW: | Progesterone is also called a luteal hormone and in women, this steroid hormone with a molecular weight of 314 Daltons is mainly secreted by the corpus lutea. LH secretion following ovulation stimulates lutea to facilitate progesterone production. In addition, this hormone is secreted from the placenta during pregnancy. Progesterone possesses the necessary actions for organizing the conditions for embryo implantation and maintaining pregnancy. Therefore, as an indicator of ovarian and placental functions, the level of progesterone is measured together with LH, FSH and E2. |
